But really though it feels like bad storytelling to have such a long story arc for the sake of introducing a love interest, and then promptly putting that love interest on the back burner. It's like "wow look at all that character development that didn't happen for anyone." I guess it got AB's crush out of the way and Sweetie got to be a dick a bit more, but it all felt like so much wasted time.

Well, in that case, I’m sorry for making everything so damn complicated and screwy.

To tell you the the truth, I just removed him from the cast just so I don’t get hell from ONE guy. Guess that didn’t work either.

I guess I thought that I could please them all. Pfft. I’m not good at this Tumblr thing.

It was unfair of me to remove a character simply based on one person and not listen to anyone else’s vote.

I’m working on the next update right now. So now I ask this: Should Rumble remain in the main cast, or be downgraded to a secondary character?

I think “removing from main cast” was a bit too sensational.

In the beginning, he was supposed to be a secondary character who was the love interest of Scootaloo. But I thought it might have been a better idea to upgrade him to primary character status.

But obviously, after a good 5-6 months, it was not turning out to be a good idea after all.

The main cast as of the last update was Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle,  Scootaloo, Dinky, and Rumble. These are the primary characters, much like the Mane 6 are to FiM. I’m removing Rumble from this list of primaries.

But not the whole cast. He’ll have a status similar to how Pinchy was, or how Babs, Diamond Tiara, and others will be. The main stories will no longer have a direct focus on him all the time.

Are Scoots and Rumble still together? Of course! He’s not gone. He’s just no longer a main focus.

But like the secondaries on FiM, he could get his own story centered on him (like a CMC episode or a Spike episode). Hell, say the word and I’ll give you a story on any of the secondaries.

In fact, his departure will tie into a loose story arc that will be seen next season.

He was never that important to begin with (and literally a random choice), and I’m not sure why I thought it was great idea to give him that status. So yeah. Fuck me.

But Scoots? I mean, the relationship is quite interesting and it seems like a break up would just be bad for her. Are you keeping him as a background character?

Oh yes. He’s still there in the background. Sort of.

What: Eliminating Rumble from the main cast.

When: Next season (the winter stories)

Where: I think you know where.

How: That’ll be a secret. (>offscreen and explained)

Why: Well, no one seemed to care much for from the start. And now that the whole shipping thing is done, interest will go even lower. I’m not going to waste time on a forced character that never served a real purpose. So I’m cutting him.

Is it permanent? Maybe. Right now, I’m not sure.

Will there be a replacement? I’m not sure about that either. Who’d you like to see more of?
