Why are people on this so liberal with using the term “virus”?

Do people just not know what to call them so they just say “virus” because that’s what the security suite says is bad?

Unwanted messages that show up in your inbox are called spam. Or junk, maybe.

What about or posts or places that contain links to places that hijack your account or potentially steal your information? Phishing.

It’s not a virus unless it places code on your computer and it is able to spread itself around a network. They present themselves only on your OS and not just on a website. So if you go to a sketchy site and now you suddenly have unwanted apps running and installing without you knowing, then that’s closer to a virus.

Where do you think you'll be if the Ask-King-Sombra blog didn't get famous. Like would you given up on drawing ponies, stopped the blog, and so on.

I dunno! Really it depends on what ‘famous’ means, honestly. If I didn’t have ANY followers then I probably would have ended AKS in under a year and moved on to something else. But if I had a small but dedicated group of people who were obviously still enjoying the updates and giving feedback, I probably would have still kept the story going!

‘Cuz ultimately I’m doing AKS because I like the characters and I like story, not because I owe it to anyone else. XD But yeah, when you do something and no one is appreciating it, it can get pretty demoralizing so I might have tried something else (probably still pony) if it was clear that no one liked what I was doing with AKS.
