Who’s ready for a good ol’ fashioned holiday stream? You might recall the ongoing ALOS Drive that we’ve been doing to help the mod of Pegasus Lola deal with bills and get treatment for her back and gastric issues. Well, we managed to raise enough to pay off her bills, but not quite enough to get all the medicine she’ll need, and to raise the last bit of it we’ve decided to hold a grand 24-hour holiday stream. It’ll start at 2pm PST this next Friday (the 19th), and we’ll have several artists in there ready and willing to take (and stream!) your commissions! We’ll also be doing a large skype call between all the artists, and probably playing some games (Cards Against Humanity, TSSSF, and others) that some audience members may be able to join in!

Here’s the links (by Artist, by Money) to the list of artists in the drive, and the kinds of commissions they have to offer. Not all of them will be in the stream, but even those not in the stream can be commissioned. The host (Me, ALOS, or Shuttershade) will just have to send the information to the artist.

Here’s how the stream will work: There’s going to be the main channel, and 8 side channels. The main channel is where the call will be, any games that’re going to be played, and where the host of the stream will be. If an artist who can stream gets commissioned, they’ll sign into one of the side channels and start streaming there. It sounds confusing, but all of these channels can be loaded up by clicking here. It’ll make more sense when you see it in action, and we’ve designed it so there’s as little work on the audiences end as possible.

On the right there’ll be a chat, and at the top of that buttons showing which streams chatroom you’re in. Please make sure that’s set to alostreamhost. The individual channel chatrooms can be used to message artists who are streaming, say if you commissioned something and want to share references/ask for changes/etc. As well, I would recommend muting all the streams except for alostreamhost (the one in the middle). You can fullscreen alostreamhost as well if youw ant to.  If your computer can’t handle loading up all these streams, even though most of them will be off at any given time, you can click here to only load up the main channel.

STREAM RULES:
- No bold/italic/underline
- No roleplaying
- No links unless you ask first and the host allows it

Here’s how commissions are going to work, in short:
1. Commissioner asks for a commission, says what it is they’d like to commission from who
2. Information is sent to the artist, either through the host or through them being in the stream
3. Artist accepts commission, commissioner pays money to host
4. Once the host receives the money, the artist starts drawing
5. Artist draws the image; upon completion, host sends money to ALOS

As well, for every $20 we raise, we’ll go on for an extra hour beyond the 24! We’ve prepared to go as far as midnight on Sunday, so if we raise enough money the 24-hour stream could turn into a 58-hour one! I hope we’ll have enough games and things to fill that time with… but I’m sure we’ll figure something out.

I’ll reblog this post again once we get closer to the date, including a list of which artists will be participating and the times they’ll be on. Hope to see you all there!

Time for the Tumblrpon community to come together again to help one of their own in need!

ALOS, aka Sasha, is the mod of Pegasus Lola (and a few other lesser-known blogs). Whether you’re a follower or not, you’ve probably seen Lola flittering around the Tumblrverse, since ALOS is an extremely active and interactive member of the community. She promotes new blogs, maintains a unique and interesting universe, sends questions flying all over the dang place, and does a ton of super-fun livestreams!

However, there’s a bit of an issue. You see, until recently, she was studying in England, living with a friend. She moved back home to Latvia for various reasons, however she had to borrow the money to do this. On top of this, she’s had health problems her whole life. Digestive issues, nervous issues, and others that make it quite hard for her to go about day-to-day life without malaise of some kind. Thankfully, her problems are treatable through yoga therapy and medicine, but again this requires funds.

Hence, the purpose of this fundraiser! All of these super-generous artists, musicians and voice actors have agreed to offer commissions to benefit Sasha, many of which I’m sure you’ll recognize in the collages. Overall, we hope to raise $1000 to help ALOS pay off her travel debts, as well as fund a years worth of medicine and therapy. And, if we somehow manage to raise even more than that, she might be able to come to Bronycon next year (with proper paperwork) to sell her wares! Spend money to make money, as they say.

How you can help: By clicking this link or this link, you can access spreadsheets that give the details as to what sorts of things you can commission in order to help Sasha. The first is sorted by Artist, and the second is sorted by Money. That way, if you’re only interested in getting something from a particular artist, you can look at the Artist spreadsheet, but if you have a set budget and want to see what you can get from who, you can use the Money spreadsheet. To navigate them, you can either use the links within or the sheet navigator on the bottom. Once you’ve decided what you want, please email Fisherpon at aaron_siebenga@hotmail.com with the commission information. Which artist you want to commission from, what you want to commission, and any necessary references.

That will start the process of this drive, which follows the same system set up for the TJ Drive late last year. Therefore, in the explanation, replace all mentions of TJ with ALOS.

If you want to ask questions regarding the drive, feel free to send me messages about it. You can also send your Skype address via this method if you want, which will be answered privately. All publicly answered questions about the drive will be tagged #alos-drive. As you may notice, this drive has no specific end date. This drive will go on as long as there are artists willing to donate their work for it. Hence, you should get your commission as soon as possible, in case the artist you want it from drops out before you go for it. Some artists are only offering a few commission slots!

If you are an artist and want to participate, everyone and anyone’s welcome to join! Just use the same contact methods as above to get ahold of me and let me know. I’ll need the name you want to be identified as, any drawblogs/tumblrs/DAs/FAs you have, the types of things you want to offer, the prices you want to offer those things at, and examples.

I know $1000 is a lofty goal, but when it comes to things like health every little bit helps. I’m very grateful to not only the artists, who are offering their time and talents to help someone that I know a lot of them have never even met, but also to every single one of you who purchases commissions through this event. It’ll go towards helping a really fun person take care of herself so she can remain active in the community, and without your help those smiles wouldn’t be possible.

Thank you all so, so much. Pokes after the break.

Official AutoSave Announcement Post! (download here)

AutoSave is an application for Windows Desktop (Vista or higher, no Linux, no Mac OS) that adds an auto-save feature to every art program in existence. SAI, Photoshop, Flash, Notepad, you name it.

How, you ask? By the most primitive way possible: Every five minutes, it simulates a press on Ctrl+S. That’s it.

Now, you wonder, how do you make sure that AutoSave doesn’t press Ctrl+S while you’re procrastinating browsing for references in your browser? Well, that’s why AutoSave will ask you to enter a part of your art program’s window title.

(For GIMP, that would be “GIMP”; for SAI, it could be “SAI -“; for Photoshop, it should be “.psd”, because Adobe.)

AutoSave then checks the title of the current window against what you entered earlier – if they don’t match, AutoSave just keeps waiting.

I have now reached a point where AutoSave is pretty stable, where I’m happy with its content, and where it’s saved a friend twice already from sudden data loss due to app crash. Time to show it to the world.

AutoSave is free. As in no money, everyone can look at the source code, copy it, change it, whatever. (GNU GPLv3 for those who bother.) You can download it directly from its Github page.

There is no installer. Everything AutoSave saves on your disk can be deleted from within the app. Just download the exe file and run it. For more information, there’s also an FAQ.

Wow, 200 followers, and still growing, I’m actually really surprised! back when I first made this blog just over 2 years ago I’d of never imagined anything near this amount of people would be interested in the crude art I post.

But here we are.

May as well list whose in here.

from left to right:

command-a-pony-A recent friend, and very funny guy. I’ve been following his stuff for awhile, he has a unique style and unique way of telling a story that I can’t resist being enamored by!

magic-rarity-Another more recent friend and masterful artist whom I’ve enjoyed talking to over the past couple of months.

motherlyscootaloo-an old friend, maybe not friend anymore. I feel out of contact with the mod awhile ago, but still they are someone who helped inspire me.

Mason-also known as Broken Pen. a very dear friend to me, who has pushed me to not only continue this blog, but better myself as an artist and a person.

post-crusade-Run by cactus, another good friend, whom I can pretty much completely thank for my current group of friends.

Tempus-An adorable cutie!

youobviouslyloveoctavia-Owner of the enigmatic Scramjet, whom will likely be tinkered with by sweetie after her birthday is over. Scram is another close friend of mine, an invaluable one at that. with the amount he has pushed and encouraged me, I’m almost certain he actually is a robot, he has so many friends, and from what I can tell, he encourages them just as much. He really is the pony that every pony should know.

adurot’s pony kirby. he’s an arsehole. Adurot that is. Pony kirby too.

I’d also like to extend a huge thank you to the entirety of the sweetiebellesbandb, whome have been a great source of collaboration and discussion.

Finally, there’s one last person I’d like to thank.

The owl plushy there on the bench is based off of one of rainbirdart’s characters, muchi, a character that definitely most represents the mod. I could have drawn her pony Rainbird here, I have drawn her before, but I wanted to do something more personable, because without a doubt in my mind, she is my best friend, and one of the most supportive people I could have hoped to have in my life. she is one of the biggest influences in how unique So Sweetie Belle is today, and also on how she acts. it has been her small nods and discussions that have driven me to improve the character and myself and my art. I think to this do one of the best compliments on the blog I have ever gotten was hers “I don’t really like canon sweetie belle, but I like yours”.

from the bottom of my heart, and I’m sure you are sick of hearing it at this point, Rain, thank you.

Many congrats to Quill! (And PCAB looks great! Thanks!) 8D

If you know TJ, you know that the man’s withstood a lot.

Between vicious family drama, Tumblr shenanigans, having to move back home, being unable to find a job despite several months of continued job-hunting, and others, it’s painfully obvious that the man needs a break. He needs something to go his way, something (or should I say someone) to help him out in this time of need.

Hence, the foundation for this drive. If you want to read what he said on the above topic, his vent can be found here. (Note: please treat it with the respect vents would normally be given, aka don’t be a douche).

I went around to all the artists I knew and proposed to them that we get together and draw commissions to help him out, and a motley crew responded. Big artists, small artists, even a musician came out and agreed to work together in order to help him out! I’m sure that many of you will recognize many of the drawblogs represented in the above images.

Now, we need your help. By clicking this link or this link, you can access spreadsheets that give the details as to what sorts of things you can commission in order to help TJ. The first is sorted by Artist, and the second is sorted by Money. That way, if you’re only interested in getting something from a particular artist, you can look at the first spreadsheet, but if you have a set budget and want to see what you can get from who, you can use the second spreadsheet. To navigate them, you can either use the provided links or the sheet navigator on the bottom.

(Even if you want to just donate, please commission something. He’s the sort of person who feels guilty when someone who donated money doesn’t get anything in return.)

Once you’ve decided what you want, please email Fisherpon at aaron_siebenga@hotmail.com with the information. Which artist you want to commission from, what you want to commission, and necessary references. That will start the process of this drive, which is explained in a seperate post to keep this post from being super-long.

If you want to ask questions regarding the drive, feel free to send me messages about it. You can also send your Skype address via this method if you want, which will be answered privately. All publicly answered questions about the drive will be tagged #teej drive.

As you may notice, this drive has no specific end date. This drive will go on as long as there are artists willing to donate their work for it. Hence, you should get your commission as soon as possible, in case the artist you want it from drops out before you go for it.

Hopefully our help can alleviate the pressure TJ’s under, so that he can enjoy life more and we can continue to enjoy his friendship and work.

FOR TJ!

…I realize that starting this drive right after Christmas probably wasn’t the best idea, since everyone would have already spent all their money.

However, now that we’re into February, I think this is a good time to repromote this! (I would’ve done it right on Feb 1, but I felt that with the Morones drive in full swing then that was a more deserving cause.)

The drive is still going on, and we’ve raised about $440 so far. Teej’s troubles are far from over, though. Between bills, the US job market being complete shit, and other shenanigans, he’s far from being able to return and be everyone’s favourite pun pirate. Help us help him out by commissioning an artist today!

Idea #6: Magician for Hire

Ponyville would always be a disaster. Trixie had learned that much from her encounters with the town. Even with the aid of a magical artifact, Twilight Sparkle still upstaged and humiliated her. So now, several months and a royal pardon later, Trixie sets out into Equestria to restore her good name. Party tricks, guard duty, she’s willing to attempt almost anything in order to become the Great and Powerful Trixie again.

First things first, Trixie needs a new wagon…

This askblog could be used one of two ways. A sad one where all of Trixie’s endeavors are met with failure, rejection and opposition, with the audience acting as a form of moral support. It could also be more lighthearted, following the many misadventures Trixie ends up in along her journey. However, she would have little to no contact with Twilight and Ponyville itself as she would rather avoid a repeat of “Boast Busters”

Me and some friends have opened up a nice little blog where people can share any blog ideas they have, but lack the time to make. It’s a nice way of looking for inspiration if you’re new to the askblog scene, or if you’d like to give away any ideas for others to use!

So go check it out! Maybe even contribute. owo
