I decided I’d to do a style challenge, following my previous one with new artists. The goal here was to emulate the styles of other artists and apply it to a single character. I chose to draw Mayday because I’d already done Sweetie Bot and Scrampone has no hair, making him not a good choice for a style challenge.

Rainbow dash is not a pirate, she is a funny, friendly, energetic speed demon who would never think of being a pirate. such a dark subject matter would never be addressed in my little pony, I’ve heard there are such things as AU ask blogs that are just putting a new spin on beloved characters, and that some fan content for the series is not suppose to be for children but that’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard
Piracy is illegal and unethical, thousands of innocent people are robbed of everything they have or are even killed by pirates every year. the mod clearly supports piracy and his bad influence will make others want to be pirates. cause as we know every character in any work of fiction HAS to be a role model for the audience, because as we all know nobody but me is smart enough to tell the difference between reality and fiction.
everybody who likes pirate dash is a sick freak who gets off on people’s misery and only read it because its about piracy. some people have claimed that the blog is “funny” or “charming” THERE’S NOTHING FUNNY ABOUT PIRATES! PIRATES ARE EEEEEEEVIL! It’s not like comedy is an art form that can make light of dark, serious situations that frighten people, or that laughing about your problems can help someones metal heath. That’d just be silly

Things I’m sick of seeing in internet arguments
- Telling somebody to kill themselves because they disagree with you. This shouldn’t require explanation.
- Creating a false superiority for your argument by implying that the other party is “too upset”. This comes in a TON of forms- calling somebody “butthurt”, saying “u mad”, saying anything to the effect of “they’re crying and moaning like babies because I disagree”. You end up with two parties who both claim to be “cool and aloof” to their “hysterical” opponent, but are doing so by hysterically attacking their opponents with claims of hysteria. Not only does it imply that being upset makes you wrong, it turns an argument about an issue into an argument about whose more “cool”.
- "I don’t have to explain myself because if you don’t understand my opinion you aren’t worth dealing with." No matter how obvious the reasoning behind something seems to you, this sort of attitude isn’t going to convince anyone of anything, because only the people who already agree with you are going to understand why you feel the way you do.
- If somebody is disagreeing with a belief that you hold so fundamentally that you believe it is self-evident and can’t be explained with reason, then you might as well stop right there because you already know neither of you is going to change opinions.
- Did you notice I already violated one of my own rules? I didn’t explain point number one, even though my third point clearly says that I should explain myself even when my reasoning seems obvious to me. Hypocrisy is surprisingly easy to fall into, so be on guard and remember that conceding that you made a mistake in your argument does not mean that you have “lost”, it means you’ve made an error because you’re a human being and presumably so are the people you’re arguing with.
- (The reason I don’t think you should tell people to kill themselves over an argument is that telling somebody they don’t have the right to live is just about the most personal attack you can deliver, and if you’re trying to convince a person to agree with you, personal attacks will just convince that person that they don’t want to agree with you.)
The internet is a means of communication, so arguments will naturally occur because that is how human beings have always communicated. “Internet arguments” have such a strong stigma because for whatever reason we often behave more erratically communicating on the internet than we do communicating in other ways, so just try to keep that in check.
What is a joke, anyway?

New Tumblr feature alert.
Hovering over the avatars or names of people on your Dashboard will give you this preview thingy. It replaces the small menu button on the avatar.
this is one of the neater new features they’ve added.
I hope they keep the quick access to the ask box, that was really useful.

I can’t help but feel like, collectively, this is all worth more than a million dollars.
It’s about time I went ahead and animated some more pones.
The YouTube description has a bunch of info on the project, different findings, etc, but this short little animation test was basically me finally figuring out how to put pony puppet rigs into complex, relatively show accurate motion. I think it looks pretty cool.
Wanted to go ahead and thank Sherclop again for creating this re-imagined Sweetie Belle persona. She’s pretty neato. Sherclop is pretty neato too. Thanks for your hard work on the FiW series!
Check it out and let me know what you guys think. Hopefully, I’ll be able to make more (and longer) pone animations in the future. Now that I’ve got the process down in my own special way… well, we’ll see what happens. It’s gonna be good, that much I can guarantee. I actually can’t wait to get another animation idea/project to work on.

You’ve probably noticed by now that the pages are now ~700x1120 instead of ~700x800, and also look massively better in general. Yay! I’ve changed a lot of my process for how I put Slice together, so it’s going to be closer to this from here on out.
So here ends Flight Camp I; we won’t be getting to Flight Camp II until after Hearth’s Warming Eve (in-story, although for all I know it might be December by the time we get there) but there’s a lot of exciting stuff until then so it will hopefully not be boring! (Pound I am so sorry, I promise you get to prove you have a personality soon. SOON.)
